Sketchbook |
Max Kahn used a sketchbook to document what he saw in his travels. Often these sketches were used later in his painting or printmaking. He drew extensively on his trip around the world in 1969-70 but also drew cityscapes in Chicago, scenes in Mexico in the 1940's, mountains in Colorado and the land, sea and boats on Martha's Vineyard. He used charcoal, pen & ink and often would cut the point he wanted on a stick, dip it in ink and draw. The results are masterpieces in themselves. |
